Interim Management
What Are Interim Managers?:
Interim Managers are seasoned Executives, Managers and Technical Managers who have moved away from permanent employment to work on project basis on fixed term contracts with various food industry companies. The work that an Interim Manager conducts will vary from contract to contract and will depend upon the requirements of the client company and the Interim Manager’s experience and skills set.
Interim Managers are not consultants. Consultants, typically, just advise and are generally not involved in implementation. Interim Managers not only advise, but implement, manage, direct, facilitate, control, develop - the same way that permanent managers and executives do in their positions. Interim Managers augment your team without a permanent commitment.
They are typically employed for one of two purposes:
Interim Management – Program / Project:
An excellent strategic option, offering flexibility for your fast-changing business needs. Your company is planning to undertake a strategic or tactical project and is broadly clear on what needs to be achieved. However, the organization does not possess the specific knowledge, experience and proven skills to deliver on time and within budget. Interim Management is a serious option to consider as it can provide you with all the requirements to be able to deliver the project. Assignments range from tactical project management to full business transformation.
Typical programs our Interim Managers have been engaged to conduct:
- Create or extend shared services,
- Manage outsourcing (USA and offshore),
- M&A - due diligence to integration,
- Facilitate and lead restructuring,
- Implement new technology,
- Risk and regulatory systems,
- Food safety, legality and quality due diligence defense,
In the past, companies used management consults to undertake the advisory work but still implemented consultants’ recommendations using their own resources. Today, these tasks are successfully delivered, with a more “value added” approach, through interim managers, who not only advise, they also implement the advice given. This provides a more cost-effective solution in today’s fast paced, resource-scarce, cost conscious business environment.
Interim Management – Gap Management:
Companies use this type of program when special expertise is required immediately. This can be due to the company having an open position for a leadership role of a function or business area, and can arise through a variety of different circumstances; promotion, restructuring, resignation, peaks in activity, maternity leave or other health related. In summary, if your business does not have the in-house resource capability / expertise to undertake the role and strategic pace / progress cannot be lost, then Interim Management offers the lowest risk strategy with the highest value added.
Whatever your situation, Quality Management Solutions will have suitably qualified and experienced individuals to fill the gap to recover, accelerate or maintain momentum of the business or function for a required period. The Interim Manager can also help to hire the replacement, mentor and coach / develop the team.
For either "Program / Project" or "Gap Management", clients value the simplicity of the contract, the Interim Managers relevant experience and focus on delivery.
QMS as Interim Managers are 1099 (independent contractor) while they work for your company and so, there is no need to add them to your payroll.
